We want to get everyone thinking about “Sack the Pulpit,” an outreach project we’ve never tried before (thanks to the Spring Meadows church for such a great idea)….
Soon, grocery bags with attached grocery lists will be handed out to members to fill, and return to the area around the pulpit. Once the pulpit is completely “SACKED”, the youth group will deliver the bags to families in the congregation and the community that may need a little extra help during the Christmas season.
This is a great way to help reach new souls, plant the seed, and let our light shine as a caring, giving church. Bags will be available December 6th; take as many as you want and plan to return them full on Sunday, December 20th.
Children will be called to bring them up front as we officially “SACK” the pulpit!
We are truly a blessed congregation and we would really appreciate your help in this service. The list of recommended items will be attached to the bag. By no means is this a restriction. Please feel free to add items to the bag that can make a difference in someone’s kitchen.
If you prefer to make a donation for the purpose of purchasing a turkey or ham, make checks payable to Martin Church of Christ, earmarked for Sack the Pulpit. Give checks to Ron Ayers, or any one of the elders.
If you have a need or know of someone who does, please see Marie Nielsen or send her an email at pnielsen@citlink.net. All requests will remain confidential.
Watch out, preacher! We’re sacking the pulpit!
